Terms that Advertisers (and my teammates) Seem to Love
1. Its got legs- Meaning the idea can walk and talk baby, there are a lot of ways to carry it out.
2. Married- As in, “don’t get married to this idea, because its subject to change.” Honestly, if I hear this one one more time I’m going to shoot someone at the alter. My Creative Director Ben and I like to joke that we’re either dating and preparing to propose to the idea (aka we would like to put the idea into action) or that the idea is the dirty mistress we’re fucking on the side. (aka toying with it).
3. Skewed- Another favorite of the team. We can skew hispanic, or black, or 40+ adults, or women, or anything really. Basically, if we have a target market and there is a subsidiary of that market that also needs to be reached and wouldn’t have been with the first campaign specifically, we call it a skew. Unfortunately, you can spend a lot of time debating the merits of creating a skew or making that market a separate Target Market of its own and creating a different campaign for them.
So being locked in a building over the past five days with a team of 20 people trying to develop a fully functional campaign has had its ups and downs. Being there from 10am to 12am usually isn’t the best part, but I do like the people. It has been a lot of fun, although tough. And I kind of wish I had a spring break, but I do think this has been worthwhile. Very worthwhile. I’m excited, and we only have until Sunday to finish this entire thing. Yay.
